A digital
frame without any photos is nothing more than a paperweight!

Most digital frames have several ways to load
image files:
-
Using a USB cord, load directly from your
computer to the internal memory
-
Subscribe to an internet service with a
monthly fee
-
Load the photos you want onto a flash
memory card and stick the card into a slot on the frame
-
Don't do anything and leave the frame in
the box it came in.
Each method has its advantages and
disadvantages:
-
Using a USB cord - The amount of
internal memory is small, so the number of photos you
can load is small. Some frames don't let you select
aspect ratios for pictures in the internal memory, which
means your photo will look "stretched" on the screen.
You must have the computer and frame together during the
process - not great if you've given the frame to a loved
one.
-
Subscribe to an internet service with
a monthly fee. Here's the scenario: You give the
frame to your loved one, who plugs it into both the wall
and a telephone socket. You upload your photos to a web
server. Each midnight, your loved one's frame
automatically calls a toll free number and downloads any
new pictures you've sent.
Disadvantage: there's on ongoing fee, whether you use
the service or not. After a while you stop sending
photos but they don't stop sending bills.
-
Load the photos you want onto a flash
memory card and stick the card into a slot on the
frame. This is probably the best way. The number of
photos is limited only by the size of the card, and you
can change the photos at any time. You can mail a card
full of new photos to your loved one, who can mail the
old one back to you to be refilled.
-
Don't do anything and leave the frame
in the box it came in. Sad to say, this is not
uncommon
