Step by step guide to using Chris’ Camera Center’s digital print service

Step 3 - Ordering your photos

If this tutorial seems long, it's because it's the only tutorial you'll ever see that doesn't leave out any steps!

Now you're ready to order some photos. If the Print Service Software isn't already running, click the icon on your desktop.
This page gives information about Chris’ Camera Center.

In order to use the service you must be connected to the internet.

The service automatically updates the software every time you log on, so you always have the latest version.

On the next screen choose whether you want to pick up the order at our store or prefer to have it shipped. Also this is where you enter your credit card number and expiration date.

This information is transmitted on a secure server, so it’s safe.

The software will automatically update information about our lab - the products we offer and the prices.

You’re now ready to select the image you want, plus the size and quantity of prints you want. Follow the instructions on screen.

Scroll down the page to find the size you want and choose Glossy or Lustre (matte) paper surface.

Click on Select Image to find the pictures you want. Go to the drive and directory your photos are in and click on them to select. Repeat until you’ve ordered as many as you want. There’s a $5 minimum online order charge, so make sure you’ve ordered enough.
Sometimes the aspect ratio (shape) of a digital photo file or negative isn’t the same aspect ratio as the print size you select.

To avoid white borders, click on the View/Crop button to get the crop box/edit screen. The View/Crop button is near the lower right of the screen.

Most digital pictures are shorter than the typical 4"x6" print, and would give you white borders at the ends.

By clicking on the second box from the top, the photo is blown up a little more to fill the paper without borders.

Now that the photo is blown up a little more to fill the paper without borders, notice that a little along the sides has to be cut off. That's called "cropping."

You can drag the actual printable area from side to side with your mouse. That might be useful if you really didn't want to cut off that tiny portion of my t-shirt's sleeve.

You’ve got to agree to the standard liability statement, which means you promise that you’re not sending us copyrighted photos or anything else that would be considered illegal.

Now send your order to our lab. Make sure it’s right, and press the Finish button. If it’s not correct use the back button.

Be sure not to turn off your computer, or disconnect from the internet, while the photos are being sent.

When your order is complete you’ll receive an Order Confirmation, which you may print out if you like.
